This is subject of my second Tree Watch, Tilia x europaea or the Common Lime. By its nature it tends to send shoots up from the base which in time would form a thicket. I will be chopping these off sometime soon. It don’t think it hurts, I like to think of it as a tree pedicure.
It will be interesting that you have two trees. There will be a natural compare-and-contrast as we go through the year.
