Cestrum fasiculatum “Newellii” – Early Jessamine

This flamboyant Mexican has been flowering for a month and doesn’t look like it is going to stop any time soon.  Things however looked very different a couple of months ago.  After our infamous winter this tender evergreen shrub had lost all of its leaves and the prognosis seemed gloomy.  Then, ay curumba!  Back it came, stronger and bolder that ever before.  As that well-known gardener Frederick Nietzsche once said “That which does not kill us makes us stronger”.  I expect this was the kind of thing he had in mind.
