The Eucalyptus pauciflora subspecies niphophila or, as we prefer to call it, the Snow Gum is flowering at the moment.  As the name would suggest this is one of the hardiest Eucalyptus which grows naturally in the Australia Alps and has been successfully introduced into Norway.  It has evolved in such as way that the branches bend under the weight of snow rather than snapping.  This characteristic is invaluable in the rather exposed position it holds in the garden when on our more windy days it appears to be bent to breaking point .
