It has been a tough day in the garden. I mean physically tough, emotionally and intellectually it was generally good. Our annual delivery of compost, grow bags and sand was due from the garden centre at a time not to be disclosed to the likes of you and me; naturally he arrived half way through our lunch break but as he is a nice chap he is forgiven. The delivery had to be taken off the back of the van which was blocking the road so there was a slight hint of urgency, not too much, this is the countryside. At least his hand brake had been fixed, in former years a brick was all that prevented the van and all our goodies rolling back down the hill, potentially over the unloaders. Another big bonus was it wasn’t raining and there was no traffic to ignore. Unfortunately one item of the order was missing – a “strong young man” to carry it up the countless steps to the store and then perhaps afterwards give myself and Hero a shoulder massage. It looks like it will have to be Girl Power again.
This lovely little aubretia was the first thing I saw this morning when I entered the garden. A definite photo opportunity.
