A grim day today. The colour had been sucked out of everything, like it had all been boil washed over and over. The rain didn’t even have the good grace to be dramatic, just a relentless dank dampness as the strong south-westerly winds passed benignly over our heads. Then shinning out of the darkness I came upon these succulent Hedychium “Assam Orange” berries. What better to lift the spirits than yet again being reminded of the spring and the potential locked up in these little rubies.
