Another persistent flowerer, not wanting to put its feet up for the winter, is Rosa Perle d’Or. A shrubby polyantha rose, it is covered in these petite apricot blooms from early summer until, well, now although not as prolific as it was earlier in the season. Disease and pest resistant, not too thorny, needs little pruning and repeat flowering, there really isn’t much to dislike about this rose. The only negative, and this is being Mrs Picky, is that the fragrance is only slight, although some accounts describe it as highly fragrant I am assured by The Garden Nose AKA Hero that ours isn’t. It has been available commercially since the late 19th century, it’s definitely a stayer!
